Legal Intern
Robert Stephens is a second-year law student at the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law. Raised primarily in Philadelphia, he has lived in several states, including Alaska, where his family currently resides. He moved to Utah for law school, drawn partially by the state’s natural beauty. Robert earned a B.A. in Philosophy from Franciscan University of Steubenville and previously studied at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary. Before law school, he worked in education, custodial services, and community support roles. He was a member of the University of Utah's Giles Sutherland Rich IP Moot Court Competition team in Spring 2025, winning the regional round in San Francisco and competing in the national round in Washington, DC. His interest in public interest law has shaped his academic and volunteer experiences, including recent work at the Disability Law Center of Utah. Robert is interested in the legal tools available to protect public access to natural and scenic spaces and is glad to contribute to that work in a supporting role this summer.
